A beautiful, historic church with a characterful interior.
This brilliant church is the oldest building in Windsor. The church and its surrounding grounds are believed to date back as far as 1100 AD, offering a uniquely rich historical setting. It is even said that William the Conqueror came to Mass here.
Architecturally, the church presents a remarkable blend of heritage elements, including a rare Saxon-era font and Norman arches and pillars. There are Victorian pews, chancel screens painted in mediaeval patterns and colours as well as stained-glass windows throughout the building providing a fantastic backdrop suitable for a wide range of productions.
The site features a large and atmospheric graveyard surrounding the building, filled with fascinating monuments, notable graves and centuries of stories. It is the resting place of several significant individuals, including a victim of the Titanic and the nanny to Queen Victoria’s children, among others. These elements contribute to the unique character and historical richness of the location.
