This unique destination offers an unforgettable experience, combining food, nature, and history. The estate features a purpose-built Cookery School, an 18th-century Threshing Barn, a 16th-century Farmhouse, and a flourishing Kitchen Garden. Cookery School Our custom-built Cookery School features 10 fully equipped cooking stations, each with an oven, gas hob, and a full range of culinary tools. Designed for hands-on learning and group engagement, the space also includes a central demonstration area for expert-led sessions. Floor-to-ceiling windows along one side provide breathtaking views across the Axe Valley and surrounding farm. The Cookery School covers 52 sq. m of beautifully designed space dedicated to food, learning, and inspiration. 18th Century Threshing Barn Full of rustic charm, the Threshing Barn is a versatile, open-plan venue offering 82 sq. m of characterful space. With original features and a timeless aesthetic, it’s a blank canvas ready to be transformed for events, workshops, private dining, or celebrations. 16th Century Farmhouse This lovingly restored traditional cottage retains its original character while offering modern comfort. The farmhouse features a cozy sitting room with views of the courtyard and the mature walled Kitchen Garden. The kitchen showcases a beautifully restored inglenook fireplace and traditional bread oven—both seen in many of Hugh’s cookery demonstrations—alongside a fully modern kitchen with a large range cooker. Upstairs, two double bedrooms and a twin room provide elegant, comfortable accommodation, ideal for a relaxing countryside retreat. Kitchen Garden Our walled Kitchen Garden is the heart of River Cottage’s organic ethos. It overflows with seasonal vegetables, fruit trees, culinary herbs, botanicals, and wildflowers designed to attract pollinators. This vibrant, productive space is both a source of inspiration and a living pantry for our cooking experiences.
