An old warehouse building dating back to 1908 with utilitarian appearance.
The 1908 building was erected as a five-storey, flat-roofed industrial building. This industrial location lacks decorative features, and the industrial character of the structure is illustrated in its rhythmic vertical bays, robust brickwork, and vertical tall windows in the principal two elevations (i.e. south-west and north-west elevations).
The windows are 1930s galvanised steel replacements, these symbolise significant features of the building. During the 1940s and 1950s, the factory produced the standard issue gold coated spectacles issued by the NHS and later down the line even produced the Queen’s and John Lennon’s glasses.
The second floor of the building is available for photographic and filming shoots, and small to medium-scale daytime events. It’s situated on the 2nd floor with no loading lift and it is not wheelchair accessible.
The building has functioning toilets, is flooded with natural light & has an open plan. The size of the space is 2,500sqft/232sqm with an entrance size of 1,5m and high ceilings of 3.5m.
