Your Gran's House On TV and Film

In our sleek, modern world we are encompassed by glass and concrete architecture or minimalist, clean interior design. Contemporary properties have undoubtedly presented themselves as smart, cool backdrops to an innumerable number of shoots and while these buildings are remarkable in their own right, perhaps we should not overlook the brilliance of a more dated property.

Retro locations are an ever-popular film star and at Amazing Space we love a blast from the past! We have a charming collection of hidden gems in our library complete with period interiors, velour sofas and outlandish wallpaper.

If you have a trendy, stills shoot coming up, why not go against the grain and use a more dated location such as RES-1495. This is set to create a fun juxtaposition between “old and new”, bringing your shoot the forefront of creative and diverse projects.

Retro locations can be used in a multitude of ways. They can offer a sense of realism to a shoot, particularly if your narrative or vision is centred around times gone by. An example of this is RES-7862 – this fantastic property transports you straight back to the 1930’s with its seemingly untouched décor, making it the perfect spot for a historically accurate drama or commercial.

Delving even further into retro locations, you enter the realm of ‘Your Grans House’ – a mix of coloured bath suites, dark wooden furniture, and sea of floral patterns everywhere. These styles aren't to be sneered at, as again, these spaces can be a fantastic backdrop to a shoot. Take a look below at RES-10236 in all its glory.

Failing all of that, we think that retro properties simply have their own level of effortless style. ‘Dated’ does not have to mean old fashioned, and plenty of the properties on our library prove that by being original, interesting locations in their own right. For more floral bedding and velour sofas, search for the key words 'retro' or 'your gran's house' on our website.

That's a wrap,
The Amazing Space Team
