FAQs for Location Owners

At Amazing Space Locations, we know that opening your home or property to productions can feel like a big step. Location owners often have questions about how the process works, what to expect, and how their property will be protected. As an agency, it’s our role to guide you through every stage — from listing your space to welcoming your first shoot. To help, we’ve answered some of the most common questions owners ask us before joining our portfolio.

How do I list my property for film and photography rentals?

You can list your property on the website via the registration process. If your property is successful, then well be in touch with more information on being a shoot location.

What type of properties are most in demand for film shoots?

We receive lots of enquiries for properties within the M25 and home counties. There is no one ‘perfect’ location, but they should have enough space to comfortably fit crew and kit.

Do you work with all kinds of film, TV, and photography projects?

Yes, we work on shoots of all sizes – from editorials to feature films and everything in between.

How much can I earn from renting my house for filming?

This will vary depending on the size of the shoot and requirements. Larger shoots tend to incur a higher fee as it’s as they require more space, more crew and more time.

How far in advance will I know about a potential shoot?

We try to give owners as much warning as possible when a shoot confirms, but filming can be very last minute, so owners should try to be as flexible.

What are recces?

A recce is a pre-shoot visit to check if a location could work for a shoot. A tech recce is when the crew visits the location before filming to plan where and how to set up their equipment.

Will the shoot require my whole house?

It’s best to assume they will be using the whole house, but rooms can be closed off if previously agreed.

Am I required to be on-site during the shoot?

You will need to be there to let the team in and out at the end of the day. However, shoots generally want minimal owner presence as they have hired the space to do a job.

Can I live in my house during the shoot?

For small shoots, yes. For larger jobs that run across multiple days or weeks, production companies will cover the cost for you to relocate for the duration of the shoot.

How long do film or commercial shoots usually last?

A typical film shoot day will be 12 hours, with prep and strike days usually being 10 hours.

How is my property protected during filming?

Wear and tear can be unavoidable when renting your house for shoots. We take a damage deposit and a copy of the production’s Public Liability Insurance to cover any damages.

Becoming a location owner is a rewarding way to share your space while earning an additional income stream. With Amazing Space Locations, you’ll never have to navigate the process alone — we’re here to manage bookings, handle logistics, and make sure your property is respected every step of the way. If you’re considering listing your home or venue, we’d love to hear from you and show you how simple and secure it can be.
